Centrally Managed Software Based Internet Filter Client

Vigil Networks Vx2006 Internet Filter
In light of the Supreme Court ruling on the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Vigil Networks began offering a centrally-managed software-based Internet filter client.  Since securing its first public library customer in early 2004, Vigil Networks has enabled hundreds of public computers throughout the US to meet the goals stated in this act.  While large libraries may be better served by an Internet filter appliance such as the one we offer from Cymphonix, the Vx2006 Internet filter is an excellent solution for small to medium-sized libraries or libraries who have many small to medium-sized networks scattered across several branches.

The key features and benefits of this solution are:

  • Consistent with the requirements of CIPA
  • Near-zero administration required by library staff (“deploy and forget”)
  • Cost effective
  • Easy to install and manage
    • Can be installed directly over the Internet
    • Centrally managed via a web-based administration console
    • Filtering applied via category-based policies
